[...] la maladie dite «Rouille suisse» des aiguilles du Douglas, découverte vers 1925 en Europe sur des arbres de 20 ans dans le canton de Berne, existe également dans l'aire d'origine sans provoquer apparemment de dégâts sérieux. Dans l'aire d'introduction, les arbres atteints par la «Rouille suisse» se caractérisent par une chute importante des aiguilles qui commence par les plus âgées; une attaque sévère laissera subsister sur les rameaux le pinceau vert des aiguilles de l'année et quelques unes parmi les aiguilles des années précédentes.
